Frequently Asked Questions.
1. Question: I have recently moved in to a house with a metered water supply. How can I keep my garden looking glorious in the dry summer months without it costing me a fortune in water?
Answer: The practical, low cost solution is to collect and store rainwater in a water butt, providing a plentiful, guilt free supply for summer watering. Look out for the new generation of flat-packed water butts that can be mail-ordered to your home, or easily transported from your local garden centre. In particular, the 'rainmate'® is remarkably easy to assemble - the pieces clicking effortlessly together without the need for tools. The rainmate features an integral stand recessed for good water access, an easy-operate tap with moulded screw for hosepipe attachment and a childproof lid with leaf grill. To keep the water stored in tip-top condition, the rainmate® has an internal, water holding polypropylene bag that can be replaced after periods of non-use and at least yearly. The rainmate® can also be attached in series to maximise water capture potential.
2. Question: I'm finding that after periods of non-use the water in my water butt has stagnated and there is evidence of algae growth. Is there a solution to this problem as regularly cleaning out the entire water butt is becoming unfeasible for me?
